Best Western Battleship In Mobile Alabama

Best Western Battleship In Mobile Alabama – Driving I-10 from Texas to Florida can be a long drive. The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama is worth a visit. It makes a good stop when it comes to breaking up a car journey. If you love history, you’ll love this park, and even if you don’t, you’ll leave with a new appreciation for what our military does day in and day out across the United States. I am thankful that we planned to stop by this time and made our visit a priority.

The USS Alabama was in service during World War II and is now a permanent museum ship in Mobile, Alabama. The ship itself was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1986. Note that flip flops do not work when visiting the USS Alabama. There are several stairs to climb and several tight spaces to crawl through. You can choose to climb or not, but if you really want to see this battleship, be prepared to explore. The USS Alabama will not disappoint.

Several memorials are also located here at this site. Take time to explore and see these beautiful buildings. The war dog memorial is truly one of a kind.

The USS DRUM is also located here, near the USS Alabama. It is the oldest American submarine on display in the world. There is also a good display of military equipment in the USS Alabama Memorial Park area.

The best advice I can give to anyone planning to visit the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park is to take the time to visit. Plan a visit of at least two hours. Ideally, you’ll want to allow four hours to experience everything the park has to offer. Depending on how busy it is and what time of year you visit, your crawl wait time in different areas may be affected. Plan to visit first thing in the morning and you’ll be several hours ahead of most of the crowd.
